Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-05
This policy explains how Chat Avatars handles information when you use its Twitch Extension, companion app, or OBS browser-source overlay.
Information we handle
Depending on how you use the service, it may process:
- Twitch account information: Twitch user IDs, channel IDs, and usernames, used to identify viewers and broadcasters and apply channel settings.
- Avatar information: Avatar names, uploaded image files, and whether an avatar is public or private.
- Selections and allowlists: A viewer’s selected avatar and the Twitch accounts a broadcaster permits to use a private avatar.
- Overlay credentials: A connection token for the OBS overlay. The backend stores a hash of the token rather than the token itself.
- Configuration information: Channel-specific settings needed to operate the extension and overlay.
Please do not upload images or enter information you do not have the right to use.
How information is used
Information is used to:
- Show viewers avatars available to them in a channel.
- Save or clear a viewer’s avatar selection.
- Let broadcasters manage avatars and private-avatar access.
- Let the OBS overlay retrieve avatar selections for the broadcaster’s channel.
- Verify requests and help prevent unauthorized access to private avatars.
- Look up a Twitch account when a broadcaster adds a user to a private avatar’s allowlist.
Private avatars and access controls
Broadcasters can designate avatars as private and manage which Twitch accounts may select them. The service checks those permissions when listing available avatars, saving a selection, and serving a private image. OBS overlay requests use a connection token; the backend stores its hash.
Public avatars may be available without those private-avatar checks. Avoid marking an image private if you intend it to be publicly accessible.
Storage and service providers
The service uses Cloudflare Workers to run its backend, Cloudflare D1 to store service records, and Cloudflare R2 to store uploaded avatar images. When a broadcaster adds an allowed user by Twitch username, the service contacts Twitch’s API to look up that account.
These providers process information as needed to deliver the service. Their handling of information is also subject to their own privacy policies and terms.
Retention and deletion
Avatar images and related settings, allowlists, and selections are retained while they remain in the service. The service may retain security or operational records as needed to operate and protect it.
Broadcasters can manage or delete avatars and allowlist entries through the companion app. Viewers can clear their avatar selection where that feature is available. To request deletion of other information or ask a question, contact joyfullyordinarytv@gmail.com. Do not send passwords or authentication tokens.
Your choices
You can choose not to use the extension or overlay. Viewers can choose not to select an avatar or clear their selection. Broadcasters can remove avatars, change their visibility, and update allowlists.
Children
The service is not intended for children who are not permitted to use Twitch under Twitch’s terms or applicable law.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised when changes are made.
